Our winemakers

Luka Škovrlj who was born in 1858, started the family tradition of viticulture and winemaking. His successful career as a winemaker was crowned with the fantastic award at the wine exhibition in London in 1906. The original of this award, which is a rarity in the world, is kept in the private collection of the family. The award is written in German, as it dates back to the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Luka Škovrlj’s son, Ante Škovrlj, a graduate agronomist, continued the family tradition and received numerous awards. The originals of these awards are also kept in a private collection:

• Silver medal for the 1928 Debit at the Belgrade Wine Fair

• Recognition for highly developed agriculture in 1938 – orden of St. Sava
